How to Setup Google Home

Do it yourself : Setup your Google Home

All you need to do for Google Home Setup

  1. Download the Google Home app for your smartphone
    2. Unpack and plug in your Google Home Mini to AC power
    A. A series of 4 dots will start flashing
    B. When Google Home is ready, you will be told to download the Google Home app to your smartphone
    3. Turn on wifi on your smartphone
    4. Open the Google Home App
    5. If you have already setup a Google Home device, you should see a tile that says a new device has been found
    6. Click on setup in the tile announcing the new Google device
    7. When the Google Home App has connected to the new Google Home app, you should hear a sound from the Google Home device
    8. Tap on Yes to continue
    9. Tap on the Room that the Google Home will reside in
    10. Then tap on Next

  1. 11.  After all that, accept the supplied name or change it to what you would like it to be. This can be changed at a later time.
    12. Tap on Next to continue
    13. Tap on the Wireless network that you want it to connect to
    14. Tap on Next to continue
    15. You will see a series of 4 dots rotating until it has connected
    16. Tap on Next to continue
    17. Tap on Next to continue
    18. Tap on Next to continue
    19. Tap on next to continue
    20. Tap on Continue to proceed
    21. Verify address presented an tap on Next to continue
    22. Then tap on Next to continue on Add music services screen (these can be added later)
    23. If Cast devices are found, they will be listed and you will be given the option of adding them to your experience.  Tap on Next to continue
    24. When the Almost done screen is presented, click on Next to continue
    25. When Google Home is ready screen appears, Tap on Continue to proceed
    26. When the “Just start” screen appears, tap on Finish Setup
    If you are using something other than a gmail account and your account is hosted using Google Docs service, you will need to have the administrator for Google Docs service make a few setting changes to allow things to work with Google Home.

There are some additional changes/adjustments you will need to make such as training Google home to recognize difference voices to personalize the experience.

Do it yourself

  1. Download the Google Home app for your smartphone
  2. Unpack and plug in your Google Home Mini to AC power
  3. A series of 4 dots will start flashing
  4. When Google Mini is ready. You will be told to download the Google Home app to your smartphone
  1. Then turn on wifi on your smartphone
  2. Open the Google Home app on your smartphone
  3. Click the Get Started button on the lower right hand corner of the screen
  4. Select the email address used to associate the Google Mini with
  5. Click on the OK button on the lower right hand corner of the screen
  6. If you get the message about error connecting to the cloud, click Try again and you should be able to continue
  7. Then if you don’t have Bluetooth turned on, enable it
  8. If Bluetooth is already enabled, your smartphone will start searching for the mini
  9. When it is found (it should be something like GoogleHome8409), click next to continue
  10. You should hear a sound once the two devices are connected

More settings

  1. Click on Yes to continue.
  2. Select a location for the Mini.
  3. And click Next to continue.
  4. Choose the Wifi network to connect the Mini to.
  5. Click Next to continue.
  6. Enter the Wifi password .
  7. After click on Connect.
  8. You will see a Connected message when the Mini has connected to Wifi.
  9. Click Next to continue to setup the Google Assistant.
  10. Follow the onscreen prompts and you should be up and running shortly.
